TUCSON, Ariz. — In an effort to inform Tucson voters about Proposition 205: Tucson Families Free & Together, the ACLU of Arizona has launched a radio ad buy that will run in local Tucson media outlets until Election Day on November 5, 2019.

The ads call for Tucson voters to stand up for the rights of all residents and to vote “yes” on Prop 205. If passed, Prop 205 will protect Tucson residents by making sure that local police focus on public safety, instead of doing the bidding of Trump's deportation force. Bilingual radio ads began airing Monday morning.

"We chose to invest in this initiative because we believe it’s important, now more than ever, to protect the civil rights and liberties of all Arizonans," said Alessandra Soler, executive director for the ACLU of Arizona. “SB 1070, a law that will go down as one of the most bigoted and anti-immigrant policies in U.S. history, continues to allow law enforcement to harm and tear apart communities. We urge Tucson voters to vote “yes” on Prop 205 – it's time that local police shift its focus back to public safety and ensure the well-being of neighbors, family members, and friends in Tucson communities.”

In addition to the radio ads, the organization will launch a larger advocacy effort that includes email campaigns, phone banks, and canvasses in support of Prop 205. The ACLU of Arizona is nonprofit and nonpartisan and does not endorse any candidate or political committee but believes strongly that voters should know about the civil rights and civil liberties at stake before casting a ballot.
