Protect People Not Power: CD 6 Town Hall Recap

The ACLU of Arizona was joined by speakers from Planned Parenthood Advocates Arizona, Disability Law Arizona, and Common Defense for a community town hall in Tucson.

Presidential power is not unlimited. It is bound by the Constitution, and checked by Congress, the courts, and the will of the people. But the Trump administration is testing the limits of executive authority by weaponizing federal funding and threatening dissenters — attacks that undermine our democracy and trample civil rights and liberties. On April 26, constituents in Congressional Distrcit 6 came together to remind members of Congress like Representative Juan Ciscomani must push back on behalf of Arizonans and fight for our communities.

Along with Disability Rights Arizona, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, and Common Defense, we called on Representative Ciscomani to take action on critical issues, from saving Medicaid to protecting free speech and our immigrant communities. Watch the video to hear from:

  • Victoria Lopez, Executive Director, ACLU of Arizona
  • Erika Mach, Chief External Affairs Officer, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona
  • J.J. Rico, Chief Executive Director, Disability Rights Arizona
  • Sue Ritz, Common Defense

Together, we made our stance clear: we will not tolerate an abuse of executive power.
