Bio

John Mitchell focuses on immigrants' rights and border justice issues at the ACLU of Arizona. He was previously a staff attorney at the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project, practicing full-scope removal defense before immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. John became passionate about immigration at the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic, preserving rights of unaccompanied minors in the Flores class action litigation. During and following law school, he also represented noncitizens in criminal proceedings at the public defender offices of Alameda and Yolo counties in California. John received a BA from Georgetown University and a JD from the UC Davis School of Law.
